Thailand - shopping and partying!! Suggestions??

First time travellers from South Africa, Our aim is to shop and party. I was told that this would be cheap holiday, however I'm not sure how to plan it so that it will be. As we are two young girls we were told that we should book our hotels prior to leaving and that they should be at least 3 star??? So far we've been told to visit bangkok (4 shopping), Koh Samed, Koh Phi Phi and Koh pang yang?? However it seems quite costly to travel between these places!! Please could you help me with some suggestions, reagrding where we should be visiting, great places to shop and get suits tailor made that would be reasonably priced?? We will be travelling in December 2006 for 14 days?? Any help would be much appreciated - Thanks

Thailand - shopping and partying!! Suggestions??
Alright. Bangkok is of course the best place for shopping. Best area is around Siam Square which comprises several huge shopping centers but also streets with smaller shops from local fashion designers and other col stuff. Just get off Siam station (use the skytrain public transportation). For Thailand being cheap....well it depends. you can have both. you also get all the designer stuff from europe and other places andthey will cost youthe same as anywhere else. but its true. you can live very cheap in thailand.

for tailormade suits: there are hundreds available but not all of them are good. i can recommend a place which is inside the intercontinental hotel on sukhumvit road (its just one station from siam station and it is called chitlom). the tailor is called majestic tailor and makes excellne tsuits and shirts (and whatever else you need).

if you want to go to phi phi you either have to take the bus if it should be cheap. you can take a plane t krabi, too. this is not as expensive as you might think.maybe around 2000 baht one way. compare that to 3200 one way to go to samui.

for partying you should check out www.bangkokrecorder.com . all about party in bangkok can be found here.

If you are looking for the right accommodation, www.excelloz.com has a great selection of hotels around thailand.

enjoy your trip!
Reply:The country is still under martial law and human rights are not protected by any law. At this point I think it is time for a BOYCOTT of Thailand's tourism until the martial law has been lifted and free elections are held. Report It

Reply:Yes, Thailand is an amazing place for vacation and definitely value for money. Do make sure your hotels are 3-star though, although this should again be extremely reasonable. Food, weather, scenery, shopping, you name it, is cheap and affordable there and I am sure it is a holiday experience you will not forget. Just be careful of the ladyboys and shemales that look like proper ladies as it is often difficult to distinguish one from a real lady.
