I know this question has been asked several times but where can I go for shopping to get some good tshirts and a few good jeans and just casual wear in general..other than giving the shop locations it would be awesome if you could give me an approximate idea of the costs i can expect there like the averege price of the tshirts so that i can plan my shopping ,thanks for the help..
ps : People recommended gurnee mills but is it really worth travelling so far( i dont have a car) ?
Clothes shopping in chicago on a budget?
I recommend against Gurnee Mills. If you're not going to be in the suburban region in which it is located, it's simply not worth it.
You might want to try shops downtown such as H%26amp;M and Forever 21 for cheap basics. (Both have State Street and Michigan Avenue locations.) These can run from $5 to $10 or so.
I recommend also checking out thrift shops. I have often found high-quality, good-condition clothing items at some for a mere three dollars or thereabouts.
Reply:gurnee mills is NOT worth it even if you have a car.
i like to venture down state street to do my shopping...h%26amp;m, forever 21, wet seal, old navy, nordstrom rack, gap, etc. all these stores have websites so you can look up items and prices. someone mentioned ragstock on belmont, which also has cheap finds. if thrift stores aren't your thing, belmont ave has LOTS of nice boutiques and shops with cool stuff. you can shoes or a cute bag for $10, to a dress for 140$. you gotta look around. i would say the stores are all on belmont between sheffield and halsted. clark street had some nice ones too, between addison and north.
you can get custom made or really cute/funny tshirts on clark right by wrigley field for 10-30$. you can't miss the store, the front windows boast nothing but shirts.
Reply:I have no idea what kind of clothes you're looking for, but Ragstock on Belmont and Halsted is pretty cheap. I'd say it's geared toward the college crowd. I've gotten stuff there for as little as $2. You can actually buy entire tuxedos for like $30.
Reply:Gurnee Mills is a waste of time...if you must got to an outlet mall then go to the Aurora outlet mall

then again i feel that there are deals to be had at other places. i can't give you prices because it all really depends on what u are looking for but try these places:
here is a good website that changes coupons regularly....u may find a coupon to a store u like that will help u save..
http://www.wow-coupons.com/printable-ret...
also try this store called steve and barry's....they have a few different locations that u can get to by bus. http://www.steveandbarrys.com/
also i would say H%26amp;M (located easily downtown )
http://www.hm.com/
Let's not forget oldnavy...also located downtown
and if ur looking for the cheapest designer name stuff i would say Carson's (they have a 20% off item coupon in the newspaper almost every week)....even without the coupopns they have the best yellow dot savings rack (50-60-70% off)
also there is marshall's and t.j.maxx for cheaper designer items.
and don't tell anybody BUT, there is an ALDO shoe outlet on division %26amp; ashland that is like pure heaven for bargain hunters! 50% off the markdown price and i've seen some nice selections for men.
EVERY store listed can be found in locations that can be easily accessed but public transportation.
Reply:I agree with all the answers but would like to add Max 10 to the list if you are looking for jeans or clothes for the entire family. It is a $10 or less store with great quality clothes including some brand names like Von Dutch, Levi, n girbuad. It's located 2013 N. Mannheim Rd. in Melrose Park. That is North Ave. %26amp; Mannheim.
Reply:There are plenty of stores and street vendors all over Chcago that will sell you Tshirts for a decent price, from about 10-30 dollars. If you venture toward Wrigley or Comiskey you can find street vendors all over selling Cubs and Sox merchandise. I have to say though that the Chicagoland area has a lot of very nice malls which might be nice to take advantage of. If you are on a budget you might want to avoid Water Tower Place. But there are two great outdoor malls within a short distance from the city (about 20 min), Old Orchard (in the northern suburbs), and my personal favorite, Oak Brook (southwest suburbs). Both are upscale but the prices are reasonable-- there are stores for everyone no matter what price range, and also plenty of restaurants. Oak Brook is gorgeous in the summer (flowers, fountains, etc.) but it does get pretty crowded on the weekends.
Reply:Check out your local thrift and resale shops. You can find Tshirts for $1.00 or less even. They sometimes have name brand stuff. I found a Hollister shirt for $5.00.
My suggestion is to go when you have nothing else to do and you've got alot of patience. You'll always find something but you don't know what untill you look
