NYC Shopping?

this is all where im going:

Stops will include or are near Greenwich Village, Times Square, Empire State Building, as well as the Union Square shopping district, Soho, Chinatown, Little, East Village, Rockefeller Center, the World Trade Center site, the New York City Police Museum and more.

-I mean, obviously there's some places listed that you dont shop at..but for the others, can anybody name some good close by stores to shop at? Thanks!

NYC Shopping?
Times Square is not the place to go shopping - tourist rip-offs.

While you are downtown at the World Trade Center site, go to Century 21 on Cortland Street (across the street from the WTC) - probably the best place to shop in New York - great quality, selection and prices

Rockefeller Center area - close to the best shops in New York including Tiffany and Cartier - Fifth Avenue stores - super expensive, but probably the best in New York.

The area with the most stores would be the 34th Street area - a few blocks from the Empire State Building. Macy's (34th Street and Seventh Avenue) - the largest in the world - huge selection of styles. They run great sales, but, even if you're there when there is no sale, check out the clearance racks at the back of the various departments - you can find clothing at 75% off the original price. Same thing for Lord %26amp; Taylor (Fifth Avenue and 38th Street - also, don't miss their window - the best Christmas scenes in New York); Check out Daffy's - across the street from Macy's - huge discounts. There is also an H%26amp;M across the street. Now, if you are a really serious shopper, walk up and down the streets of the Garment District (say, you can start at 35th Street and Sixth Avenue and walk to Ninth Avenue, turn right and come back down 36th Street, keep doing that - I don't have the patience for it, but, on these side streets are the shops that supply the clothing stores all over the country - if the sign in the window says "wholesale only", pass it by - you have to buy about a hundred of the same dress, but, if the sign says "retail" or "retail and wholesale", they will sell a single item and the prices are usually great!

The Union Square area has very ordinary chain stores that are availble all over the country - Forever 21, Strawberry, etc - not worth making a trip for.

The East Village and Soho are good for unusual items - designer boutiques.

Two pieces of advice - if you are planning to buy a lot, take a piece of luggage on wheels with you - you don't want to be bogged down with bulky packages; and, very, very important - WEAR COMFORTABLE SHOES!

Have fun.

Chinatown...Canal St. Cheap deals on "designer" purses, they'll take you to "back rooms"

Rockefeller Plaza is by 5th Ave...luxury shops like Fendi, Tiffany's, L. Vitton...etc.
