Christmas shopping?

Ok Now last year I did the whole Day after Thanksgiving sale shopping..I was at walmart at like 4am..Will I ever do this again--NO WAY..What a mess. So my question is this...Who is gonna do the whole sale shopping thing? where will you go and how long will you shop all day or just a few hours? How much to you anticipate you will spend the day after Thanksgiving?

For those of you who go out..please be safe and courtious. Keep your purse closed and in front of you. Do not go alone!

Lots of answers I want to see how many people actually enjoy doing this.

Christmas shopping?
I won't be shopping I'll be working and I'm not looking forward to all the rudeness I'm sure I'll have to deal with.
Reply:Thank you. May we get through Friday with as few problems as possible. Report It

Reply:this christmas i'm just going to make a whole load of handmade stuff and some cheap thoughtful gifts: some caramels for my parents (they're delish and fun to make), a poem for my partner, or maybe a painting although i'm not all that good at it, some little charms or hair stuff or makeup for my girlfriends. no i'm not doing the whole sale thing! i live in england anyway, so the only sales are after xmas!
Reply:it is kinda fun......but.......when you are trampled that's something else!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Reply:I absolutely love doing this!!!! my cousins, aunts and uncles and i sleep over at someones house and have a big party the night before and then the next morning we leave at 4. we go to macys since there are A LOT of good sales and things there....doorbusters and stuff...shopping on black friday is something i wait for the whole year!! its sooo much fun.
Reply:No way I'm not going out there!!! Besides Grandma is making me give Tina bath, GOSH!
Reply:I`m done.
Reply:i wont be doing that kind of shopping, because i'm done getting all my christmas presents. yeah me!
Reply:Thankfully we don't have a sale day in the UK like you do........but we do have a very, very long run-in to Christmas where we are all bombarded with special Christmas offers, merry Yuletide advertising, etc...........and mince pies seem to arrive in the shops around October these days.

Christmas shopping in London is hideous. Crap and expensive parking, crowded and unreliable public transport, muggers lurking in dark corners to pinch your cash and prezzies, thousands of tourists (god bless 'em), and a massive punch up when you do manage to fight your way into a shop.

I did go to Manhattan for the true Christmas shopping experience a few years ago, and it was pretty much the same.......but the novelty of being in New York made it a lot better.

I have two tips for Christmas shopping:

1. The "Bah Humbug" approach - buy every single present on-line and get it delivered pre-wrapped. Costs a little more, but balances out against the cost of travel, parking, medical fees, etc.

2. The Exotic Christmas Market approach - we have started going to places like Brussels (Belgium), Cologne (Germany) etc where there are Christmas markets. You can buy some cheap old tat for very little money but, because its come from a different country, people will think you've gone to a great effort to buy them something special
