Go shopping with Dad?

I've seen so many young girls shopping with their dad at my clothing store. I was just wondering how does it feel? And do you like shopping with your mom or your dad better, and why? [My dad died when I was 7; mom remarried when I was 19 and my stepdad is a very serious person, not a fun one to shop around with.]

Go shopping with Dad?
I went to Target and I saw this young girl there shopping for bras with her DAD!

I was like "wow."

Well, I go grocery shopping with my dad.

But he's more of the serious type.

Not the outgoing, funny type of dad.

I don't think it would be a problem shopping with your father.

But if you want fashion advice and bra shopping kinda person rather than a tag-along person, you'd be best to go with your mom.

And if you don't have a mom to go shopping with, i'm sure you're aunt would love to take you shopping.

And if you don't have an aunt, then your friends would be a great substitute.
Reply:My dad is a business tycoon and doesn't have time for "silly nonsense". He gets people to do all of his shopping, I think he went shopping with me once for shoes and he had me pick them out ahead of time...two pairs of them in my size. We went to the store, grabbed them and left.

I prefer my mom to shop with me because she loves fashion, she understands what matches and what doesn't. My mom spends half a million dollars a year on clothing and drives my dad nuts.

I'm 12, so I guess I'm the right age your looking for. I'm just sharing my opinion and MY DAD IS NOT MEANT TO SHOP is all I have to say on the matter :]

Reply:When I was younger I always perfer my dad to take me shopping. My dad would just stand on the side while I be shopping for this and that, never looking at the price like mom would do. He would ask me isn't you finish yet I would say no I got to get 2 more things, he would say you driving me crazy. But Dad let me have my way. Mom would be so mad at me telling me she don't have no more money. What could I have say when I was daddy little spoil girl.
Reply:Shopping just seems to be a mom kind of thing. My mom always to seemed to be a better shopper. People have certain relationships with they're parents but shopping just seems to be a motherly relationship.
Reply:I never went shopping with my Dad, not for clothes...only my mom. I can't even imagine shopping for clothes with my dad.
Reply:Sorry your Dad is not with you to take you shopping, and your loss of him is still hard on you. However, you must give your stepdad a chance, perhaps he would go shopping with you if he knew how much it means to you. Why won't you Mom go shopping with you? That can be a lot of fun too. You should find some friends to shop with and take the pressure off of yourself that way.
Reply:when i go shopping with my dad he shows me outfits that he finds and if i like them he buys them because he also likes them. My dad jokes around alot and thinks it is funny to buy a lot of things and see my mom's exspresion. I like to go shopping with my dad.
Reply:shopping with my dad is great...he used to buy for me what ever i wanted to buy rather than my mom....
Reply:To bad you do not know a lot about a man your mother loves

Maybe you should try to find something that you both like to do togethe, he may not like to shop, and you do not like something he likes to do

Find some comfort zone, and establish a relationship with him, it would make your mother v. happy and give you a father you lost a long time ago

Maybe he likes to shop for something besides clothes
Reply:i don't remember when was the last time i had my dad gone shopping with me, but i guess may be i was very little when this happened. my dad is a doctor and he's always too much busy with people that he can hardly spend time with his family. i've been going to shop with my mom, sis, friends or alone for a long long time. dad has got us (his daughters) and my mom to shop for him.

i don't have any hard feeling for dad coz i know he's just very busy and he also misses the old times a lot, and he's happy with whatever we get for him. i don't get a chance to go shopping with dad but i think if i got it, it must be a memorable one coz dad is so friendly with me and its all fun being with him.

sometimes i prefer mom to go with me when...u know...we have to buy some stuff for girls only. mom is the best guide at these.
Reply:well i feel really close to my dad i wouldnt mind shopping with him. i dont live with my mom so yeah...

i think it depends on the bond.

its cool but a bit weird cuz hes a guy and doesnt understand the patients of shopping but at least someone is there and your not shopping alone.
Reply:My daughters love it. Number 1 thing is that they can bat those puppy-dog eyes at Daddy and he gets them what they want, I'm a little stricter about the rules. They also love to go with their step-father, surprised me too. They will ask him if an outfit looks okay before they ask me, and take his opinion over mine 99% of the time. It is also great bonding time for them. Their Dad and Step-Dad also take the time to tell them why they think some clothing is inappropriate, from a male's point of view, how some clothes may make them be seen as something they are not.
Reply:I'm So sorry for your loss. But to answer your question i like to shop with both of my parents but i think my dad the most because he buys me anything that i want and don't have to beg my mom i have to ask more than once but will eventually give in . but i love shopping with both of them except when i go with my mom we have more to talk about and we do all types of funny stuff but my dad is more serious the only thing we talk about is school, weather and what ever pops up in my head to say to him that i think will be appropriate
Reply:your mom is better because she wont make you get stuff that you dont want to get
Reply:My dad hated shopping. If he "had" to go, he put ridiculous price limits on things and went out in front of the stores and leaned on the parking meters until my mom and I were done. He never approved of anything we bought. He saw no need to buy clothes because you could make them. I was in my 20's when I asked him to buy me a dress (the only time in my life I asked him for that). He actually did buy it, but the expression on his face when I asked looked like I had just poured ice water down his back.
Reply:Most Dads do not like to go shopping with their teenage daughters so it is a treat when you have the privilege of your Dad taking enough interest in you that he wants to help select your clothes.
Reply:I shopped with my mom til I was in high school, then I shopped with my friends, cousins or sisters.

My mom always had really good taste so she got me nice stuff. My dad was clueless about fashion, except if our jeans were too tight or or skirts too short (then he would grumble disapprovingly - but that was his job as a dad). We shopped for Dad's presents to Mom, because he didn't want to just give her money, but he had no idea what to pick out that she might like (mom was very picky).
Reply:I'm 15, and I prefer to shop with my mother...but if I had a choice, I would go with my friends. With my mother, she doesn't like to shop so she wants me to hurry up alot. She'll buy me whatver I want or need just as long as it isn't risque`. My friends shop just as much as I do...so they really don't care how long I take. I don't live with my dad, so we don't shop that much. I wouldn't want to shop with him anyways becuase nowadays there are lots of cute guys walking around and if I'm with my dad, I can't be with them. =]
Reply:yes every christmas and anniversary iwould go with dad and hlep him buy something for mom. yes i enjoyed it. i am sorry you have not had the opportunity its great and leaves good memoires.
