Shopping IN Bangkok?

HEy peeps..Im going to bangkok in january and i need all the information i can get. Apart from MBK shopping centre, what other great shopping centres can i go too that have a wide range of CHEAP stuff. any road side shopping hunts too? if yes to both questions, please provide me with the exact name of the place.THANKS!

Shopping IN Bangkok?
Yes, try BONANZA PLAZA, just a 3 - 4 storeys high building, very near in MBK shopping mall. It is just a 5 - 10 mins, using the overhead bridge as a linkage. This plaza is just opposite Swensens %26amp; HardRock Cafe (Bangkok). You can ask around the local people if you can't find your way there.





The things that they sell are very affordable and nice. You can shoes, bags, clothes, soft toys, women accessories %26amp; etc. What's more amazing is there are shops who sells school uniforms to the students in the nearby schools. I'm sure you'll like this small shopping mall.





Apart from Bonaza Plaza, nearby shops are in Siam square area and you can find alot of small shops along the streets, which sell fashionable clothings and accessories too. Be delighted and enjoy shopping here too! But the prices are more expensive because most the shops are owned by their local designers.





Last but not least, Chatuchak is my FAVE and I'm sure you'll like it too. But don't forget to wear lesser (not explictly), coz sometimes it can be quite hot squeezing in between all the small stores inside the place. Have fun shopping in BKK!!!

great place to go. bangkok is my favorite big city in the world, not that i would want to spend much time there. if you have any trouble breathing stay out of bangkok. it will be 90 F. and humid in feb. when you need a break hit the water taxi, a ferry line that goes up and down the chao phrai river; cool fresh breezes on the water, and a reasonable way to get from one part of town to another as well as to see the sights.





mentioned above is Khao san Road. khao san means white rice and is another way of saying street of the european youth, it's kinda like being at a grateful dead show. this is where you will find cheap travel opps, crappy restaurants, and over-priced bars full of european youth waiting for travel connections. eating around here is best done from street vendors which take over at 5pm. most rooms around here are booked by noon.





Sukhumvit is known as the world longest street, it starts downtown and goes halfway to cambodia. between soi 15 and 20 (cross streets) you will find large international hotels where you could pay easily over 100 US, or find a small chinese hotel in the neighborhood for 10 US or less. this is a good area to stay, many embassies in the vicinity, many good restaurants.





once again, i love bangkok, but if you have more than 2 days get the heck outa town. your lungs will thank you and your heart will never forget. if you have a few days or more get to the beach.





be advised, bangkok has a highly developed sex trade. thailand also has the highest incidence of aids in asia. this means ALL sex trade workers must be suspected of having hiv!





oh yeah, the elevated train. don't miss your chance to save yourself a two hour cab ride across town, instead, get the train, very modern, clean, and always on time. you would be a fool to rent a car in bangkok.

Reply:Just walk around and get lost. Seriously. Taxi's are so incredibly cheap all you need to do is pick up a business card from your hotel and give it to the driver once you are done shopping. Did this last year and had a blast wandering around side streets and discovering non-touristy shopping areas.

Reply:You want the ultimate cheap stuff, then you need to go to the sunday market aka Chatuchak, most stores open on friday throughout the weekends only. The best way to get there would be by subway, get off at the train stop thats one stop after "Chatuchak" this will take you to the heart of the sunday market. You will be able to find pretty much everything there. House decor, clothes, art, jewelry...etc
Reply:Besides MBK, there's Pratunam. Wholesale here, so long as you purchased 3 pieces and above. Great selection of garments. Chatuchak (weekends only) is a must-go. I personally like Suan Lum Night Bazaar. Besides the shopping (high quality goods than most of the mentioned places) there's the entertainment part - beer garden with many food stalls, stage for live band and performance and big screens to watch football matches. Travel around Bangkok and you'll see many night markets, especially outside major shopping centers. Enjoy!
Reply:Go to the weekend market. Just ask your hotel for directions. It's HUGE and has everything you can imagine and more. Just get there early before the crowds and the heat.

Reply:Good choice to do shopping in Bangkok. You can get many items, so it will be up to your purse. You do not have to worry about carrying them back. You can find courier companies in most of the shopping places to ship back immediately to your home, while you continue shopping.





For starter, the world known Chatuchak Weekend Market. With 90,000 over stalls, you are sure to find what you like and want and more there. Place opens weekends from 9am and close till late for some stalls. Place is big, so good to have a map of the market with you so you can find your exit.





Place is easily accessible by both Skytrain at Mochit Station or the underground train at Chatuchak or Khampaeng Phet Stations. So you can beat the surface traffic jam if you can get to any train station.





If you are not there on weekend, don't despair. The Chatuchak Plaza and local market are open 7 days a week. So there will still be plenty to browse around should you get there.





Another place is the Pratunam Wholesale Center. Here is clothes galore. Especially for the lady. And cheap if you do bulk buy. Prices drop quite a fair bit should you be buying by the dozens. Do not limit to the wholesale center only. Nearby shops do carry better quality clothes or factory over-runs at a slightly higher price, but you get much better items. Just see for yourself.





Street market, you find them around Pratunam wholesale center in the day. In the night, popular ones are at Khao San Rd, Silom Rd and Sukhumvit Rd. You will find similiar items at these night narkets, though sometimes occassional appearance of a passing seller may bring with him unique souvenirs..





Flowers? How about Pak Khlong Flower Market near Saphan Phut. Take a cab there. You get flowers on the cheap. Great if you want your room to smell like one. Opens in the night till dawn.





Shopping centres? Besides MBK Center that you know, nearby are Siam Discovery Center, Siam Square and Siam Paragon. Walk along the street and you get to more malls along the way. Gaysorn Plaza, Central World Plaza, Zen Building, Not enough, take the train to Central Chitlom Department Store. Or further down to E emporium plus other smaller ones in between.





Not enough? Head to Central Department Store at Silom, or Lad Phrao, or Central Bang-na? Central Pinklao? Central Rangsit?





Night time shopping, do not miss Suan Luum Night Bazaar at Lumphini. Almost like Chatuchak at night, it is open 7 days a week. More modern items than the weekend market can be found here.





Also shopping in Chinatown in the day, and eating at night. Not a bad combination.





Let's see, these will set you back about a week of pure shopping, and there are more. But I am not local enough to discover where!
