Grcocery Shopping Dillema!?

My hubby and I go grocery shopping every 2 weeks. We have totally opposite views on shopping. Last time he brought a big pack of pork chops (from SAMS CLUB) and said that we were eating that for 2 weeks straight. Now i know there are variety of ways to cook pork chops but I just can't eat the same meat for 2 weeks regardless of how its cooked! My idea is to make a 1week list of meals to eat and then eat one meal on the 1st week and have the same meal one day next week. That way we're not having the same "meat" everyday. Well today we're going grocery shopping. (YIKES!) What would be a good meal list to make for 1 week. Things that are quick and affordable. (Healthy too!) We usually shop at Food Lion if that helps. What are some ideas/tips you use when grocery shopping. Thanks in advance for all your help!

Grcocery Shopping Dillema!?
Maybe try something like this:

Monday - Ground Beef Tuesday - Chicken

Wednesday - Pork Thursday - Pasta

You get the idea........then buy the larger packages of meat and sperate them according to what you need per meal %26amp; freeze. Good Luck!
Reply:I pretty much cook the same meats every week, but in different ways. One time I may fry another I may bake, etc.. I always try to make new things, because I get tired fast of the same type of meal, I hit allot of recipes sites.
Reply:Buy big to save money and freeze in meal size packs. Surely you didn't eat meat that you stored in the refrigerator for two weeks. Did You???
Reply:Ok..I admit I'm like your hubby when it comes to discount buying. Rather than eat a big pack of chops all week, I divide them up into meal sized lots and put them in freezer bags and freeze. I'll buy a big roll of hamburger and divide into one pound pkg's. We'll decide on a basic menu for a week and pretty much follow it. We also babysit the grandkids alot, so we'll include meals the kids like so they'll get a choice now and then. Sometimes the kids will want cheeseburgers, so I'll pull out a forzen pkg or two out of the freezer and Bob's your uncle.
Reply:We save money by buying bulk, but like you said, 2 wks straight of pork chop is too much....here the idea:

spaghetti, beef stew, pork roast or beef roast, lasaggna...enchelada...chicken pot pie.....etc...

Divide them into meal portion, then freeze them for next time use. Serve with fresh salad on the side, mash or bake potatoes, vegies.....corn.......soups......save money, save time, and got varieties....Have fun.
Reply:buy hamburger and chicken it is versital and many many uses.. like spegetti, meatloaf, chili, tacos, burgers, hamber steaks, ect, or u can do baked chicken, chicken pot pie, chicken and rice, chicken speggetti, chicken noodle soup, chicken casseroles, chicken salad... see tell him to mix it up... once you give him some ideas he will come around
Reply:Even shopping for 1 week at a time, you can still get family packages of meats if you have gallon baggies to separate them in before you freeze them. Buy a big pkg chicken breasts, separate by meals (exa. chicken strips - 2 breasts, chicken rollups -2 breasts, 1 lb hamb meat - tacos, 2 lb hamb meat - meatloaf)) then label each baggie for what you're cooking with it; take out and defrost the day of/before you need it. That way, you're both happy! He gets his big manly sizes and you can separate them and not have to eat the same thing for a week. :)
Reply:Meatloaf, potato, vege

Fish, mac and cheese, vege

Chicken and rice casserole and vege

Scalloped potato and ham and vege

Roast (beef or pork), potatoes and gravy and vege

Spaghetti with a salad, and garlic bread

Asian Beef %26amp; Broccoli with Noodles

1 1/4 pounds boneless beef top round or top sirloin steak, cut 1-inch thick

2 (3-ounce each) packages Oriental-flavored instant ramen noodles, broken up

1 1/2 teaspoons cornstarch dissolved in 1/2 cup water

2 tablespoons vegetable oil

1/2 pound broccoli florets

2 medium carrots, thinly sliced

1 teaspoon grated orange rind (optional)

Cut beef steak lengthwise in half, then crosswise into 1/8-inch thick strips. Combine seasoning from ramen noodles with cornstarch mixture in large bowl. Add beef; toss.

Heat 1 tablespoon oil in large nonstick skillet over medium-high heat until hot. Stir-fry broccoli and carrots 1 minute. Add noodles and 1 1/2 cups water; bring to a boil. Reduce heat; cover and simmer 3 to 5 minutes or until vegetables are tender and most of liquid is absorbed, stirring occasionally. Remove; keep warm.

Heat remaining oil in same skillet over medium-high heat until hot. Drain beef, discarding marinade. Stir-fry 1/2 of beef 1 to 2 minutes or until outside surface of beef is no longer pink. (Do not overcook.) Remove. Repeat with remaining beef. Serve over noodles. Sprinkle with orange rind.

Makes 4 servings
