My mom and shopping? Help?

My mom is driving me nuts whenever we shop for clothes. She's turned it into a chore, and I can never find any fun in it. I'm 13, yet she still constantly wants me to shop in the kids section. Apparently, kids sizes are for "8 to 16 year olds" and I'm not yet 16, so apparently it's ok for me to shop there! I prefer the Juniors section; she thinks I dress "too grownup-ish like".

Here's my side. I don't shop at those stupid "designer" brand stores. I don't beg her, "I NEED those new 5 inch Gucci stilettos!" The most expensive shop I go to regularly is PacSun. My stuff is not super tight, and I don't wear any micro-mini skirts or straps to school or anything ridiculous like that. I don't "need" the latest fashion. I'm not a girly girl who buys everything in the entire store. On top of that, I get good grades.

How am I supposed to convince her to let me get what I want? I've tried everything! She wonders why I never wear half my wardrobe and why I prefer shopping online! Truth is, I prefer shopping in stores, with my mom. But we're complete opposites in terms of fashion. Please help? Thank you! :-)

My mom and shopping? Help?
Judging by your spelling and grammar, you're very mature for your age which is definitely a good thing! You certainly have a good head on your shoulders and I applaud you for not following in the footsteps of most of the other teens out there.

I started shopping in the juniors' section when I was your age. My mom didn't like it all that much either until she saw how much better the clothes fit on me. Perhaps if you modeled a few outfits for your mom from the juniors' section, she'll have a change of heart.

The childrens' section is actually for ages 8-12. Not 16. The juniors' section is for TEENAGERS, and yes, being 13 qualifies you as such. By 14, you've hit a growth spurt and most of those clothes don't fit anymore! Maybe you could work that into your argument as well.

Good luck!
Reply:Hi my mom is exactly the same most of the time i ignore her but the best thing to do is take in some of her advice on clothing yet mix it in with your own style
Reply:OH HELL NO!! i WOULD SLAP THAT ******!! NO OFFENSE OR ANYTHiNG, BUT YOUR MOMMA SOUNDS CRAZY TO ME!! JUST TELL HER STRAiGHT UP..."MOM, i DO NOT LiKE THE CLOTHES YOU ARE EXPECTiNG ME TO WEAR, SO i REFUSE TO WEAR THEM!!" THATS WHAT i DiD AND MY MOM LEFT ME ALONE ABOUT THE SUBJECT...HOPE THiS HELPS GiRL!!
Reply:Get ur own band account and keep shopping online. If ur mum asks why tell her

"Why do you think ?"

Tell her that you dont like wearing all the junior crap and want to buy something thats not for babys!
Reply:Tell her exactly what u just said. Tell her how good of a girl u r and if u cant let u go in a section in a store, then how r u ever gonna do other things in life anad grow up a little? it will make her fell gilty and maybe she will have 2nd thoughts.
Reply:I have the same issue! What I would do is tell her that you prefer the Juniors section because they have more "up-to-date" fashions and that the kids section is for kids that are 11 and under. I don't see why she won't let you pick out what you want as long as you don't beg for things like a spoiled brat and you make good grades. But as a 13 year old we all know that parents can be way too overprotective, nosey, and definately annoying! Just tell your mom that you are 13 and you want to start your own style and pick out your clothes. Tell her that if you pick out what you want to wear then it won't waste so much money! My mom finally found out that I hate it when she picks out and buys clothes for me and this past Christmas and my birthday, she took me shopping and let me pick out what I want and now everything in my closet gets its fair share of wear! 8th grade is hard for us anyway because hello we are teenagers and we are very emotional, stressed and everything else and we all know that your parents buying your clothes or telling you what department to shop in will make the "popular and stylish" people laugh!
Reply:sorry there

my moms the same was excet since I 'm small she thinks I should go in the petite section when it's really section for small little 80 year olds with scrubs and sagging

I hate shopping to
