Thialand shopping? Anyone been? What was the shopping like?

I am going to thialand in the summer to stay with my dad. I have never been befor and am very excited about the shopping as everyone, including my mother have told me of how amazing it is. I am from England and love abercrombie but it is a bit expensive and theer is no store here so i can only get it from the internet. I love fake goods and have many replica handbags but was wandering if there is alot of replica ambercrombie, I do know that they have it there but is there alot? Also I know that the shopping is cheap. How much would a replica handbag cost me roughly? Do they have fake tiffany? As I have been searching for it cheap? Do you have any? How much did it cost? What is the shopping like? Are there stalls on the streets and everywhere? Please tell me I would like to get an idea. And does anyone know the exchange rate for sterling to Thai money( I don't know what currency they use.) I know this is alot of questions, please answer even if you only know a few. THANKYOU!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Hi, you will be glad to know that shopping is definitely good in Thailand. But where specifically will you be? The best shopping will be in the capital, Bangkok. If you are there, I believe you will not be disappointed.

To check the exchange rate, you can use this link to check the current rate sine the currency exchange fluctuates all the time:

http://www.xe.co

The currentrate rate is about 1 pound = 63 bahts

You can get plenty of clothing shops in Pratunam, Bangkok. Even your Abercombie T's. Cost will be about 200bahts, thereabout If you bargain well, you may even pay about 150baht only. Buy more pieces usually let you bargain the price down.

And there will be many other things to buy if you are into shopping. Email me if you like some directions. Even if you may not be in Bangkok.
Reply:I've just come back from spending four hours in the Central World Shopping centre and spent more than 30,000 baht buying one digital camera Nikon S700, and a nikon flash SB 800 for my Nikon D300 I bought earlier. I also bought lots of batteries and memory cards for both of the cameras. They went on sale. When things are on sale in Thailand they are very cheap. Tomorrow is the last day and I think I'm going back again, as my girl friend wants to buy a mobile phone and a camera.

I bought fake good sometimes, but let me tell you they're not as good as the real ones. Of course, you pay lots more for the real one. I bought a fake golf bag by Titleist and it last only three months, then I went and bought a real one and been using it for over a year now.

I bought lots of fake T-shirts too and found they don't long good for as long as the real one does. But the fake jeans seem to be pretty good. I had a jean for only 200 baht, went to the UK and wore them almost every day for more than a year, until they almost become white. The thing is I'm grown out of it so can't wear them any more.

Sterling to baht is somethings like 65 baht to a pound now, It was only 37 baht to a pound when I went to the UK for school. I don't know the details on the specific brand name you mentioned, but I'm sure there are lots of it on street like Jartujak Flea market, and Mabunkrong centre.

Have fun.
Reply:you should be able to buy all you are looking for in Thailand...exchange rate is currently about 62 baht to the pound....a good copy handbag for example would cost you about 500 baht....always barter never take the first price and shop around the many markets and shopping malls....helps if you learn a little bit of Thai just to say.....how much....no thank you.....thank you very much......and of course the traditional Thai greeting......sawasdee khap or sawasdee khah...good luck
Reply:Koh San Road,Bangkok but haggle hard cos the locals are asking too much now.I've sometimes found things cheaper in the supermarkets,. They use Baht.
Reply:Bangkok/Thailand is a great place to shop! Everything there is so cheap! You will love it! (I went there last year). However I dunno what part of Thailand you are going but all Thai stuff are cheap! You can get cool games 20 in 1 memory stick for Nintendo ds for a cheap price! You can get cheap handbags there and all cool stuff! Like coconut bags (I have one). As for fake Tiffany I am sure it is good =). The shopping in Thailand is great. The floating market there is awesome! I was amazed at how cheap things were. I think you will love Thailand however I find it polluted. Be sure to go on one of the Tuut Tuut (sorry if I spell it wrong). And guess what? The price to watch a movie at a cinema costs only $5 Aussie/Singapore money dunno about England money but it should be around the same price.

Enjoy Thailand and I hope you will have a good shopping time!

Oh ya! I forgot! Try and haggle as much as you can that way you will get a good price =) Hehe I got discounts alot from that when I was at Thailand. Money in Thailand are called Baht.
Reply:totally cool every thing is cheap
Reply:great you are going.....

you must learn to barter, or in other words... argue for the goods. never give them the price they are asking. NEVER. start out at least half of what they ask, then go from there. you should be able to find anything and everything that you want.... but you must remember, when you return to England, you'll have to go through customs, and they look for "knock offs" be careful
Reply:Everyone has already told you the answer to your questions.

ANd HAGGLE!!! But the best tool in haggling is the "WALK AWAY MOVE"

I got a gold ring for my husband (yes real gold, had it checked when i got home) for 500bhat. lol. she wanted 2000 bhat, and every time she'd stand firm, I'd say "no thanx" and start to walk away, she kept dropping her prices!!!

I also got a special editions "the simpsons" shirt for my nephew for 75 bhat.

Great deals, great people, great shopping.

Have fun!!!!
Reply:In thailand you can either go to a shopping mall to buy the best branded items or go to pratunam market, indra market or Bo be market, where you gan buy clothes at rock bottom prices. Hang bags are very cheap in these places. But still you will have to haggle a lot.
