Perhaps I am a bit odd, but I really loathe and detest shopping for clothes. When I was younger, I went with all the latest trends butr now, ithe very idea just brings me out in a cold sweat.
Firstly,I am older, "trendy" things just look yuck on me.Besides, I don't like sparkly, spangly things. As well, I don't want to show half my bum to the whole world (the world is most likely very glad of it as well) Plus, I only like plain T-shirts, I have no statement to make. I have the most impossible hair as well, so elegance is hard achieved; anyway, I'm too lazy most of the time. While I prefer quality overall, I get outraged at the prices of some of these products..God, I could have a trip overseas instead! Then, when I do venture into a clothe shop, they pester me like hell, Yes I am in need of help, just not ridiculous!! I s'pose I am too simple for the main shopping drag strip but still, I need some new Duds, mine are all (literally) falling apart. Drat, drat drat it all.!!Comments??
I dislike shopping intensley, mainly clothes but daily grocery shopping as well. Do you like shopping? Why?
I am 110% with you on this subject! What's with the hip huggers and the short tee's anyway? They look great on someone who weighs 100 pounds and 20 years old. Take us on the 30 something with a little rounder hips and tummies because we are mommies, we don't do this kid of clothes. It is so depressing. As far as shopping for food or anything, I hate shopping. People are so rude, they don't move over in the isle. No one says excuse me anymore. It always seems like the check out lines get longer each time, and I always seem to get in the line that isn't moving! I HATE shopping. I'd love to hire someone to shop for me and never have to go again!
Reply:we are on the same page!!!
Reply:I too hate shopping... especially at Wal-Mart when it's always packed and you are either in someone's way or they are in yours. It's mainly the other people that are shopping that bug me. I like buying things - just not shopping. :)
Reply:I dislike shopping as well which is pretty odd for a female, I'm just not a very materialistic person and the quality of life is so much more important to me as keeping up with the trends. I think that stores cater crap. My sister-in-law finally took me shopping because I was always wearing jeans and unflattering t-shirts. She took me to J.C. Penny's, and I had a ball, pants that actually fit my figure and pretty little blouses. The prices were awesome, 25.00 for new jeans, very reasonable. Next stop, Fredericks of Hollywood, I had a ball, and finally I felt like a woman again. All that I'm trying to say is try J.C Penny's, skip Sears and never shop Wal=Mart for clothes. Good Luck Oh, by the way, no pesky sales people. One thing that attracted me to my husband was the way he dresses, nice yet casual.
Reply:It sounds to me like what you really are upset about is your own self image. I don't know what happened between when you were younger and now but you don't seem that happy with who you are in general ie "trendy things just look yuck on me, the world is most likely very glad of me not showing half my bum off, i have no statement to make, i have the most impossible hair, i'm too lazy most of the time"
I'm a mom of 3 and I will tell you that the world would LOVE to see half my bum and anything else I was willing to show, and not because I'm the most beautiful girl in the world (although i am pretty hot lol) but because I value myself enough that the world knows any part of me is something special. Take it from a reformed sweats addict (yup, I was exactly like you once) it's time for a change!! I don't know what has made you so down (for me it was a really bad relationship) but go out and get your hair done first. Hair stylists will do something with your hair, trust me. Then get a manicure and a pedicure. Next, get some really sexy shoes. No matter what size you are, shoes will make you feel great. Then, take your sister or a trusted friend with you to shop for clothes. I took my sister and she was able to objectively pick things out for me and just hand me an armload of clothes to try on at a time. She'll give you an honest but loving opinion on everything. Soon you'll find yourself shopping with no fear! The most important thing to do is FAKE IT TIL YOU MAKE IT!! You HAVE a statement to make, you just have to find it!! Keep me posted on the new incredible you!!:)
Reply:do your shopping online or get out more!
SHOPPING IS AWESOME!
Reply:i love shopping! if your not into trends, go for classic pieces, jeans, sweaters, black trousers with a good fit, etc. as long as it fits well it will look good. also fitted jackets with good structure to them look great. And you can get things for a good price, try Target they have cute clothes.
Reply:You are too funny! I liked you instantly when I read this. I also detest shopping for clothes. I hate taking all my clothes off, trying on all my selections, and then getting dressed and finding something hanging up in the store that I am really interested in. But, I have to be REALLY interested to go try it on after I am dressed in my clothes again. The only exception to this for me is shopping for stuff for my home. That includes Home Depot type improvements. I love fixing my house up and redecorating.
Reply:I find that if there is something I want to wear, try it on, then when I get home it miracuosly doesn't fit! My other problem is that I don't really know what suits me so I always take a female with me; if none are to hand then I shop at my local 'Next'; my female friend is a manager there so guidance can be provided....so long as I ask her during lunch break or something x
Reply:I absolutely love shopping! It's like my drug. However if you hate shopping I would suggest shopping online. But find a store that (just in case the clothes don't fit, or you don't like them) have free returns, to where you don't have to pay to ship them back. I can usually find great deals online. I always shop around online before I buy anything. Or if you just REALLY hate shopping, hire someone to shop for you! Where do you live, I'll shop for you!! :)
Reply:You can do alot of your shopping on-line..
I like shopping for clothes and shoes, but I detest going to the grocery sttore !!! but it has to be done !!♥
Reply:it depends, if im shopping with a man i dont enjoy it at all because i am being rushed and cannot take the time to look at things. now if i am by myself its not so bad!
Reply:Shop on line. Most of the catalogs have the sale/clearance section with good discounts. I know what you're saying about the prices that's why I shop the quality stores but look in the clearance/end of season section. And you know if it is available and not back ordered. When it comes to grocery shopping just go every 2 weeks or so and stock up. I go to walmart for house hold supplies and snacks because you can't beat them price. wise.
Reply:Me to.
Reply:Take your measurements and shop online. Many online shops assist you in finding the right size based on your measurements. If you find an online store that you like - stick with it. As far as groceries go - there are some larger cities that have online shopping and delivery - but you pay for it - and you don't get to select your own produce, which can be a drag.
Reply:I hate the thought of having to go out shopping for the same reasons you do. But, once I'm there, I enjoy it.
I usually end up spending way over what I wanted to spend.
The best time to go is just after 9 when they have just opened. The staff are all still half asleep and can't be bothered to come and pester you. The changing rooms are empty and the check-outs are free.
Now go get those 'Duds'... treat yourself, you deserve it.
Reply:My sentiments exactly.
Reply:I love to shop....but I know folks who are not crazy about the whole ordeal. Try shopping with a friend whose company you enjoy...do lunch and make a day of it. That might help, or at least you would get to spend time with a friend and eat something yummy! If all else fails drink heavily and hit the stores...kidding. Hope you find a solution to your dilemma!!
Reply:i dont understand your question but im really glad for these two points
Reply:I love shopping! i am a student, so i have to pull in the purse strings and shop on a really tight budget, but there are so many options nowadays, expecially where clothes are concerned. Maybe you need to experience a good days shopping again with a friend. Try not to think about the pestering assistants and the trapesing round shops for hours on end, go out with an optimistic outlook on the day. Look in a few of your favourite shops, have a coffee and a chat with a friend and loosen up a little. You might find a few bargains and go home with a nice new wardrobe, just enjoy it.
Reply:i don`t mind shopping. i know what i want and i get it and get out.
Reply:Cool i hate shopping want to hook up JK
i hate shopping it sucks
Reply:Well, I love to shop, so I would probly drive ya nuts. BUT, it sounds like you are gonna have to go do some, if youre clothes are literally falling apart.

Reply:Well now still.wat... Its interesting you should ask that question, as a man I love it, more so when I get to spend other peoples mony such as the banks money, but that costs an arm and a leg to pay back. I have a 6000 debt and I estimate about five years to pay it of, but it was worth it cos I got to buy ladies things for a girl Friend and she liked them, now that's unusual for most woman its not the right seize or colour and then they end up taking it back for a refund or what ever.
Reply:Why not just wear those disposable paper overalls you can get out of the DIY stores.
Reply:i love shopping (including for groceries...there's nothing like deciding what you food and household items you and your fam need). and you don't need to go grocery shopping daily! the best and easiest thing to do is think about all you need, and put it on a list perhaps, then go to the grocery store and buy it all in one trip. you shouldn't go more than once a week, but once every other week is ideal, depending on how big your fam is, or if it's just you. if you don't like going to stores, just shop online for brands you're familiar with. otherwise, you could end up ordering something that doesn't fit you properly, and you'll have to send it back.
Reply:I find it very reassuring that you and I are not the only ones. I find I am happiest shopping at deep discount places, or charity shops, or 2nd hand shops. I have a friend who really understands clothes and body shapes and all that. I got her to give me a few principles to follow. For instance, I have really long legs but a short torso, so I look now for tops that cover most of my hips, or drop-waisted dresses, to make the top look longer.
In addition, I have a few methods to make the shopping less of an experience. Avoid places that play loud music. Decide in advance how much you want to spend. Decide in advance what you really want to come out with. (People who hate to shop often come home with the most ridiculous items in the shop.) Try to keep everything in one colour range - if you look good in blue, look for blue, plus one accent colour - say, orange or pink. Neutrals are a shoppingphobic's best friend - they all go together. Beige, brown, dark green, navy . . . . Add colour ONLY on impulse.
When you find something that works on your body, buy it. Don't dither. Then go celebrate. (Preferably at home, in surroundings you can trust, where no shop assistant tries to put you into that awful underwear that goes up your crack.)
Don't spend too long on your shopping ventures. Schedule refreshment stops. This keeps you from falling into the "I've got to buy something, because I've spent all this time here" trap. Promise yourself that you can go home any time you feel like it, and come back another day.
Or take up sewing.
I await an answer to your question that makes grocery shopping more tolerable.
Reply:I hate shopping too! Of all kinds! I wish I had someone to do it all for me.
Reply:shop online
Reply:I hate going to the grocery store
Reply:I agree with you, shopping is rubbish! Whenever I have to replace an item of clothing I simply try to get the selfsame product (though, often, one size bigger than the last one).
If a shop assistant comes up to me and says: 'can I help you?', I usually run straight out of the door.
