Shopping carts - does this make any sense??

When you go to the grocery store, you can get the shopping cart with a racecar in the front for 2 kids to sit in. Go to Target or Walmart, they have the 2 seater kids carts too. Almost everywhere you can shop, you can find these fun shopping carts.

Go to Toys R Us and/or Babies R Us - the stores that are meant more than anything for parents. They DO NOT have the fun shopping carts that you can place two kids in. I just can't understand this, why wouldn't they have them??

Shopping carts - does this make any sense??
The "fun" cars are meant to distract + entertain the children during the not-so-fun grocery shopping at stores that generally target adults. They're making your responsibility to watch your children (and have them behave) easier so that you're less stressed while shopping and inclined to stay longer in their store. It also makes their job more pleasant by minimizing events that stem from not-so-happy children (crying, knocking things over, etc).

At Toys-R-Us and other stores that target children, the toys do the distracting. That's what they want...buy the toys...buy the toys...yes little children, get your mommies to buy the toys! Don't be distracted by cool shopping carts! lol %26lt;3
Reply:Well, in safety regulations, those aren't that safe. And they take up a ton of room. And they are an easy distraction (which is the only reason to have them).

Toys/Babies R Us have a high customer traffic area, and are often situated next to each other, so parking lots have limited space, and its harder to get these specially shaped carts back into the corral. And they 'd rather have the kids looking for stuff than being entertained by a cart.

With Walmart, Target, K-Mart, etc they have a higher customer flow, but at a more moderated level. And there isn't really more than one or two of these carts.

These fun carts often get broken, take longer to disinfect (as each time they are returned its required by law that they are disinfected), and its just not really efficient, and its viewed as a waste of labor when you can just as easily fit two children in the main part of the cart.

In the walmart where I work, we don't have the little race cars or anything. We're the third largest walmart in the country, so its not really a logical idea for us to have them either.

:)
Reply:Walmart also, I spend more time there than anywhere else!

sams club has the 2 seater carts, and several other grocery stores. piggly wiggly even has mini carts that my kids like to push.

at walmart my son likes to climb underneath the cart and lay on it like a surfboard. hes quiet and out of the way, so i let him.
Reply:So kids are less likely to go into the carts run around the store and nag there parents for toys. They're parents will get tired buy them they're toys and the store gets more money. It is simple really if you think about it.
Reply:store planners never seem to make any sense. I went into a new j.c penny store the other day and the dressing rooms for the kids was way over the other side of the store.
Reply:KBradley has it exactly right. In the grocery store, kids are bored. The managers would prefer the kids were contained. At Toys'r'us, the managers want your kids to run free, pick up everything, and throw loud tantrums until you agree to buy it.
Reply:although you bring up a valid point you're on the wrong site asking this question that is something that you need to bring up to their corporate offices. they should know that other stores that aren't really meant for kids have the coolest shopping carts for kids but the store that is meant for children doesn't . i'm pretty sure they will have no problem addressing your question.
