Well, perhaps your feeling rushed. Try setting aside a whole day for shopping so you don't feel so constricted for time.
Also, try to shop alone, that's how I do it best! There's no one else there to say 'hurry up' or 'you take forever'.
Just call your mom when your done to pick you up

Reply:Well, if you're asking about how to slim down on how much you buy, I can suggest some things since I'm the kind of person who only ever buys something 1/10 of the time I shop.
#1 make sure you buy quality items, especially in terms of material - that way they'll last longer and ensure that you're probably getting something that's more worth your money.
#2 ask yourself if you already have something awfully similar in your closet - I think sometimes people might have too much of the same thing, like I'll want to buy a skirt, but my friend'll tell me it looks like it's the same style as a lot of other skirts I have, so maybe trying for another kind might make a more varied closet
#3 decide whether you REALLY REALLY like it - oftentimes I'll pass something by, and it's just nice looking. I try it on, I sort of like it, but I'm not sure if I should get it. I think that doubt sometimes means you shouldn't get it because you're not 100% confident that that clothing is meant for you and that you totally like it.
#4 try not to spend too much - sometimes things can be quite pricey, and it might just be more worthwhile to wait 'til it goes on sale or something. I'm sure there's a way you can track it or check up on it to see when it'll be less pricey.

Christmas shopping?
Ok Now last year I did the whole Day after Thanksgiving sale shopping..I was at walmart at like 4am..Will I ever do this again--NO WAY..What a mess. So my question is this...Who is gonna do the whole sale shopping thing? where will you go and how long will you shop all day or just a few hours? How much to you anticipate you will spend the day after Thanksgiving?

Christmas shopping in London is hideous. Crap and expensive parking, crowded and unreliable public transport, muggers lurking in dark corners to pinch your cash and prezzies, thousands of tourists (god bless 'em), and a massive punch up when you do manage to fight your way into a shop.
I did go to Manhattan for the true Christmas shopping experience a few years ago, and it was pretty much the same.......but the novelty of being in New York made it a lot better.
I have two tips for Christmas shopping:
1. The "Bah Humbug" approach - buy every single present on-line and get it delivered pre-wrapped. Costs a little more, but balances out against the cost of travel, parking, medical fees, etc.
2. The Exotic Christmas Market approach - we have started going to places like Brussels (Belgium), Cologne (Germany) etc where there are Christmas markets. You can buy some cheap old tat for very little money but, because its come from a different country, people will think you've gone to a great effort to buy them something special

Annoying shopping experience?
Just wanna know what kind of annoying shopping experience people have had. Like the saleswoman who keeps following you while your browsing and you just want to ask her to stop following you because you want to shop at your own pace and leisure. Or the salesperson who's really bugging you to buy the product she's promoting and you really dont want to but feel bad about rejecting. Any annoying shopping experience to share? I'm sure us ladies have plenty of stories like that!

I find it more annoying when people bring their badly behaved kids along with them while they shop and I have to hear the child cry and throw little temper tantrums. The parents annoy me too, if they know their children are the bad, find someone to watch them, people want to shop in peace, not leave with a headache.

Reply:My annoying shopping experience was when I went to Saks 5th Avenue. The sales people hung around like vultures ready for their prey. As soon as I pulled out my wallet, three other people were asking if they could help me. When I caught the attention of one sales person, another girl said she saw me first. I kept telling the sales person that helped me if I she would ring me up and the girl pushed her aside and started ringing the items.
I said, "I'm sorry, but you just lost a customer", and walked out the door.

Reply:last weekend, i went to old navy... and the lady at the checkout counter asks me if i want to get ten percent off by getting a card.. so she hands me this paper to fill out and i'm filling it out and i come to social security number.. i don't know mine and i wouldn't want to give it out to her anway. well she keeps pushing it and says i can't get the card and the discount without putting down my social. she tells me to look at my driver's liscense, call someone who does know, she's just really pushing it even though i told her nevermind. then i get home and i find out it was for a credit card.. and i'm 16. she completely wasted my time.

And now this w-mart (which needs to move its location and expand) is re-modeling. No need to even go now. Hardly anything in there. Only necessities and in the larger quantities. I am sure it won't be much better when it is done.

Even when you say NO, they keep asking, saying, Oh you can save this much, or you can get this rebate......If I had wanted to put it on their credit card, I would have used it and not paid with anything else..

I think they should. Maybe I'll use a portable boat horn. Every time I go shopping I always get behind someone who thinks they are the only person in the world. I go left, they go left, I go right, they go right. They also like to park their cart in front of something they don't buy that I need. I know they don't do it on purpose %26amp; they are just oblivious to what's going on around them. I try shopping at different times %26amp; it's the same thing every time. I thought my timing was off so I started skipping a little bit here %26amp; there %26amp; even that didn't help. I prayed %26amp; that didn't work. I sent someone else shopping %26amp; they screwed up my order. I had it delivered %26amp; they screwed up my order. I asked the managers at the stores to make the aisles wider %26amp; they refused. I'm at my wits end. Maybe I'll get one of those bicycle horns or a bicycle bell. Anybody got any ideas? I like the boat horn idea myself. I'll bet that would wake em up! I'm losing a lot of time in a years period.

Especially when they meet someone they know and decide to have a long loud conversation in the middle of the aisle. And then when you say 'excuse me' they give you THAT look as if to say 'oh, what are you doing there? Cant you just go away? We are having a conversation here'.
It drives me crazy.
I think there should be advertisements on television about supermarket etiquette! Keep left (or right) depending what country you are in. Let people past. Dont block the aisle with the trolley while you are deciding which salsa to buy! These sorts of issues... need solving!
I love your boat horn idea though... maybe some flashing light 'indicators' too and brake lights, to let people know if you are going to stop and be there for a while!

First, they have to care that they are not the only one in the stores. These same people know where the horn is in their cars, but not the rear view mirror. Good luck in getting the companies who make the carts interested in your ideas.

Plan your aisle trips so when announcements of detainment and pursuit occur, it is on every other aisle that has you walking TOWARD the registers. In that case, everyone will move to the right to let a racing grocery cart policeman by to make a quick exit. Except you never exit. You just go down the next aisle cool and collected. This idea will get you out of the store 50% faster!

Online free shopping carts... which to use? What is the most secure? Which one can I use Scripts with?
Ok, so I am finally trying to take advantage of my online shopping carts installed by bluehost. The problem is, I don't know anything about shopping carts... yet. Seems I have a choice between Zen Cart, Agora, oSCommerce, and CubeCart... So which is the most secure? How about the easiest? What I would really like to do is design or download PHP, ASP, JavaScripts, to use with the shopping cart. Which is the best for that? How about overall with security being the priority? Will any one in particular, (maybe all), allow someone to pay with a credit card then after that is done be able to automatically retrieve an encrypted key and e-mail it to that person? Or e-mail the person with a website link so that they can download something? Wow, the shopping cart world is the most interesting, I could however use a little guidence.

why is there this bizarre law that says i can go shopping on a sunday morning,but im not allowed to pay for my shopping till 11 oclock.i can go get a paper,use a supermarket or cafe,no problem,but certain shops have this wierd law imposed on them.are we mad?

There are all sorts of Sunday laws. It goes back to the puritans. Car dealerships are closed on Sundays here.

Reply:Hi, It all depends on the cubic footing of the shop, so a large supermarket or electrical store can only open for 6 hours on a Sunday. I am glad this is so, i don't work Sundays now but i used to and customers forget that workers have families that they like to be with.
Reply:There is a trading law that depicts when shops are allowed to trade between. In some shops it is between 10am - 4pm, others it is between 11am-5pm.
I work in a supermarket and it allows us to open the doors at 9.30 am,even though we are not allowed to start serving untill 10am.
The first half hour is to allow for 'browsing'. Even though we can not stop people filling their trollies ready.

Reply:Hi, It all depends on the cubic footing of the shop, so a large supermarket or electrical store can only open for 6 hours on a Sunday. I am glad this is so, i don't work Sundays now but i used to and customers forget that workers have families that they like to be with.

I am only 15, but I want to start a personal shopping service kinda thing. I was thinking about going to retirement homes and doing grocery shopping/clothing shopping for the elderly. Has anyone done this and is it a good idea? Also, if I do start this, how much should I charge?

IPod Shopping?
I am currently shopping for an iPod. The thing is I don't know where to start. All I know is that I want one of those regular iPods that have always been around, with the little screen that you use to look at the songs. I don't care how much space it has, seeing as 30 GBs is already good enough. The problem is idk where to shop for one. What is the average price that a customer should pay for a brand new 30 GB iPod and where would be the best place to shop for it, whether it be online or at a store?

Any ideas to attract local customers to use our shopping precinct rather than out of town big boy stores?
I have a childrens boutique in a small village type shopping precinct. There are many types of shops from butcher, baker, greengrocer, craft shop, locksmith, fresh fish, cafes, bookmakers, hairdressers, beauty salon, dry cleaners, shoe shop, photographic shop, pubs, charity shop, ladies fashion, hardware, pet shop, jewellers, clock repairer, dolls house shop, insurance broker, toy shop, chiropodist, newsagents, independant supermarket and co-op.
We are all getting together next week to discuss ways of improving customer footfall through our pedestranised precinct - rather than people using out of town stores. Also, ways of attracting people outside of the area. However, we have a low budget to spend. Any fresh ideas for me to take along to the meeting would be much appreciated.
Point to note - over the road - we also have post office, major banks, travel agents two top tourist attractions and a beach less than one mile away.

I'll use bike stores as an example.
At a good bike shop, the bikes are much more expensive than at the box stores, but they are of MUCH higher quality. You will also likely find many services complementing your purchase, as well, such as bike fitting (muy importante), riding advice, and a real mechanic onsite.
This sort of service keeps the bike shops alive, when it's easy enough to 'save' money on a crap-mart bike that'll end up gathering dust in the garage.
There'll be plenty of added-value services you can imagine for any sort of business. It's just a matter of developing them to the extent that people will be attracted to the stores, and advertising, then charging a fair price instead of greedily going for the 'boutique' prices on everything.

Card would be advertised in ALL participating store windows and could be promoted in other media as well. If oyu could enroll a local printer in the program you might then be able to get cards printed at a discount. Good Luck!

Offer some incentives to purchase e.g a money of card giving a small discount. Good luck in generating new ideas. It is my experience that major banks are often prepared to invest some money in ventures like this if you approach them.

Hi. I want to go shopping to Abercrombie %26amp; Fitch but im latino and my accent is not so good (its not horrible either.)
1)Will the employees of anf be friendly and helpful?
2)How loud is the music really, because I've heard its REALLY loud.

At our store, we almost always have an associate or manager who is fluent in Spanish. We have many Spanish-speaking customers, and we try to help them by making service available in Spanish.
Employees at A%26amp;F, like any retail store, are paid to be friendly and helpful-- these tactics are the only sensible way to sell clothing. I would recommend approaching the employee greeting you at the front, and telling them about your specific concerns. I'm sure they will be more than willing to help you find what you want.
The music is a preset level-- it's loud, but you don't have to yell to be heard. You can easily have a conversation with someone nearby at a normal level. Some stores really crank up the volume, but it's on a case-by-case basis. All the stores I've been to are at the preset.
As an employee, I've been taught to make myself available for any questions a customer might have. I greet customers coming into my room, and wait for any specific questions. I try not to hinder anyone's shopping experience. However, if anyone wants to try on clothes, get a different size/style, or get some personal shopping assistance, I help in any way I can. This is standard business for brand reps at A%26amp;F.
There should be at least one A%26amp;F associate in every room, plus at the fitting rooms and cash register, waiting to help you. Everyone is hired on the basis of being approachable and friendly, so don't be afraid to ask questions.
Unfortunately, not everyone is super nice and helpful. But I think by any large the people you'll meet will try to make a positive shopping experience for you. I've shopped at probably 2 dozen different A%26amp;F stores and I've yet to have an unpleasant memory in store.

The music isn't THAT loud, well to me it isn't. but it depends on the person and the store. I usually shun out all the music and just enjoy my time browsing.
The employees will let you do it alone, but if you need help with sizes or anything, they will help.

As an employee, I've been taught to make myself available for any questions a customer might have. I greet customers coming into my room, and wait for any specific questions. I try not to hinder anyone's shopping experience. However, if anyone wants to try on clothes, get a different size/style, or get some personal shopping assistance, I help in any way I can. This is standard business for brand reps at A%26amp;F.
There should be at least one A%26amp;F associate in every room, plus at the fitting rooms and cash register, waiting to help you. Everyone is hired on the basis of being approachable and friendly, so don't be afraid to ask questions.
Unfortunately, not everyone is super nice and helpful. But I think by any large the people you'll meet will try to make a positive shopping experience for you. I've shopped at probably 2 dozen different A%26amp;F stores and I've yet to have an unpleasant memory in store.

Reply:When you walk in the store, one of the employees will say hi, and ask you if you need any help finding anything. So they are pretty friendly.
The music isn't THAT loud, well to me it isn't. but it depends on the person and the store. I usually shun out all the music and just enjoy my time browsing.
The employees will let you do it alone, but if you need help with sizes or anything, they will help.

Reply:in the beginning when you first walk in through the doors they ask how you are doin and if you need help finding any stuff.they are not stuck up or anything, that's what people mostly think.i think thee music gives you a taste of the clothes its kinda loud but it's like that at Hollister%26amp;American eagle(if you've been there).well im latino and have a lotta curves so it's kinda hard to find clothes that fits me so they help me find what size fits me.hope this helps

2. the music is pretty loud, not gonna lie.
3. the shopping experience is okay, but its not like AMAZING or anything. the people that work there dont really stand out as 'friendly' in my mind for some reason. the clothes are really cute though, but overpriced at times. sometimes someone will be like, "can i help you find something?" but not as often as you'd think.

Has anyone else noticed how 'same' and boring shopping for Christmas gifts has become?
Go to the local major Shopping centre and it's the same old stuff. K Mart, Big W, Noni B, Sussan, Katies, Kleins etc. I truly lament the loss of the old shopping strip where independent shop owners created a business and were able to stand up to the BIG Multi-Nationals.
Went to Mornington today and actually found a great little store with friendly, actually helpul, staff with such different little things to buy for that person who seems to have everything.
Thank God for independent retailers!

if you are heading towards these places, be extra careful during the Chinese New Year period coz there will be a lot of foreigners who likes to visit these places where most local Malaysian are heading out of town or should i say balik kampung. in the past, their presences are not really welcomed coz they tend to create nuisances %26amp; disturbance %26amp; maybe lead to violent scenes.

This phrase is from the english textbook. I thought it is like home shopping including online and tv, but there is this "helping" picture depicting someone with the shopping catalogue and the phone. What do you think?

Are cars legally supposed to stop for pedestrians in crosswalks in a shopping center (private property)? I almost was run down in one, and when I yelled at the idiot, he said crosswalks don't count in a shopping center!
What about traffic signs in a shopping center, like STOP, or speed limits? Can the police enforce them if they are WITHIN the shopping center? This doesn't include ones that face onto a real street.
Crosswalks in Shopping Centers?
It would be nice if they were legal however there is nothing that can be enforced as far as crosswalks on private property.
The same goes for stop signs and speed limits unless they are for a residential facility, ie a complex of apartments that has the proper signs posted indicating speed limits and stop signs.
If you were struck by a vehicle on private property because you stepped out in front of the vehicle without due care it would be your fault. However if the driver had more than adequate space and time to see you it would be the drivers fault.
